BECKY

Life forever changed when I met Christy and Katrina at the age of 12.  I was lucky enough to have the good fortune of carrying this sisterhood through my adolescent life and into my adult life as we experienced some of our biggest moments by each other’s side.  Our sisterhood grew when we met Jacki, our C.D.O., back in high school when it seemed as if we’d always have each other for words of wisdom and hearts of strength for years to come.

Fast forward this sisterhood to the age of 33 and learning that one of us has just been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and succumbs just 14 months later.  Fragility of life sets in, anger ensues and question upon question of “WHY?” is in the forefront of your mind.  Then you find strength, mostly in the heart of your sisters, the ones who say that Christy is still with us, still encouraging us and pushing us forward.  This is the birth of In Christy’s Shoes and of a new opportunity to strengthen yet again, the determination Christy exerted in life, to do as she did every day, and that was to put others first.  Christy’s passion and memory are what drive me to do the best I can to honor her by helping others.

The women we support through In Christy’s Shoes could be any of us; that’s what makes our work so impactful.  I strive to continue to spread the giving spirit of Christy and want to provide this support to as many women as I can.  Forging ahead to other cities, supporting programs in those cities and changing lives, these are the aspirations I have for In Christy’s Shoes.

Now rewind! Before I found my true calling in a profession, I had years of experience in the restaurant/catering business throughout college. After receiving my Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio Dominican College in 1997, I married the love of my life. Todd and I had been childhood sweethearts who never wanted to quit each other and found solace in being the Yin to each other’s Yang.  I then began a 4 year career in the flooring industry before focusing efforts on my new family, with the birth of our oldest daughter Lillia in 2002 and our second daughter, Clara in 2004.  The next 10 years were spent at home with my daughters and those are years I wouldn’t trade for anything!

I currently serve as the Chief Financial Officer of In Christy’s Shoes and am involved with all day to day operations as well as providing direction with event planning, sponsor procurement and community partner selection.  The ICS team divides its responsibilities based on individual talent and area of strength. Leading our food committee, defusing tough situations and relationship building are my strengths.
